13th-Month Pay Calculator

How much 13th-month pay should you expect? Enter your basic salary, then see an instant estimate and the exact formula. Para madaling maintindihan.

Your salary details

Choose a simple estimate or enter the basic salary you actually earned for every month.

Enter the peso amount not earned, not the number of days. Skip if none. Don't subtract contributions or taxes.

For mid-month hires, resignations, varying pay or irregular work, use the month-by-month tab instead.

How is 13th-month pay calculated?

Total basic salary actually earned during the calendar year ÷ 12. For example, ₱25,000 monthly basic salary earned for 12 full months gives ₱25,000 in 13th-month pay. Six full months at the same rate gives ₱12,500.

Usually, overtime premiums, allowances and other benefits that are not treated as basic salary are excluded. Some employment agreements or company practices can affect what counts as basic salary. Enter your actual basic salary earned, not take-home pay.

Who should use this?

For covered Philippine private-sector rank-and-file employees, DOLE confirms the calculation is based on one-twelfth of total basic salary earned and that 13th-month pay is due by December 24. DOLE source.

How to use the 13th-month pay calculator

  1. Choose Quick estimate if you earned the same monthly basic salary for complete months, or Month by month if you started or left during a month, had unpaid absences, or your basic pay changed.
  2. Enter your basic salary actually earned in the calendar year, before taxes and employee contributions. For Quick estimate, subtract only basic salary you did not earn because of unpaid absences.
  3. Read the estimated gross 13th-month pay and the calculation breakdown. Compare the result with your employer’s payroll records.

13th-month pay = Total basic salary earned during the calendar year ÷ 12

The quick mode uses complete months, not exact employment dates. For partial months, enter actual earned basic salary under Month by month. This tool estimates gross 13th-month pay, not income tax or take-home pay.

Worked examples in pesos

1. Full year

₱25,000 basic pay × 12 months = ₱300,000 earned.

₱300,000 ÷ 12 = ₱25,000

2. Six full months

₱25,000 basic pay × 6 months = ₱150,000 earned.

₱150,000 ÷ 12 = ₱12,500

3. Salary increase

₱20,000 × 6 months + ₱26,000 × 6 months = ₱276,000 earned.

₱276,000 ÷ 12 = ₱23,000

4. Unpaid absences

₱20,000 × 12 months − ₱4,000 basic pay not earned = ₱236,000.

₱236,000 ÷ 12 = ₱19,666.67

Frequently asked questions

Who is entitled to 13th-month pay in the Philippines?

In general, covered rank-and-file employees in the private sector who have worked for at least one month during the calendar year are entitled, regardless of employment status or method of payment. Special employment arrangements can require additional review.

Am I entitled to 13th-month pay if I resigned?

Yes, covered employees who resign or are separated before the payment date are generally entitled to a proportionate amount based on the basic salary earned during that calendar year. Use Month by month for a partial final month.

Are overtime, allowances, and bonuses included?

Generally, overtime, night differential, holiday premiums, and allowances not treated as part of basic salary are excluded. Some items may count if an agreement or established company practice treats them as basic salary. Consult your payslip or HR team if unsure.

What if my salary changed during the year?

Use the Month by month tab and enter the basic salary actually earned each month. The calculator adds those amounts and divides the total by 12.

Is 13th-month pay the same as a Christmas bonus?

No. The statutory 13th-month pay is a required benefit for covered employees. A discretionary Christmas bonus is separate unless applicable agreements or policies say otherwise.

When should 13th-month pay be paid?

Under DOLE guidance, covered employers must pay it no later than December 24 of the relevant year. Earlier payment schedules are possible.

Does this calculate my tax or final take-home amount?

No. This estimates gross 13th-month pay only. Tax treatment and final payroll amounts depend on other details not collected by this calculator.
